Personality: Baleo is a gem. If “I’m just a baby” were a cat? It's him. The best boi, the dearest cat, the sweetest: these are the words that keep appearing in messages between us, his finder and his foster family. All of us have known many cats, and all of us can see how special he is.

Baleo is young, just turned one. He’s one of many kittens who is well-socialised around people from when they’re tiny, has had a home who loved him, but was allowed to roam. For that reason, his constant escapades around his old neighbourhood made him a big cause for concern. He was reported many times by worried neighbours, made a trip to the council shelter before being recovered, and his family now understand that he would do better in another home. These are not our typical cases - we work with street cats - but the street also has some cats just like Baleo, and they are very vulnerable.

Less about the past, more about the now! Baleo is energetic and a lover of all things people. He is incredibly friendly and affectionate from the moment he meets new people, and loves being held and fussed over. He was raised in a home with a baby and young child, and is gentle, patient, and very easy-going. If you’re going to the vet, he’ll jump in his carrier of his own accord and off you go. No stress, he’s with you, and you’re going on an adventure together. Baleo loves “together:” attention is his love language. He brings joy wherever he goes.

You called for him? Here he comes! Baleo runs to greet his people and, when picked up, wraps his paws around your neck like a little kid asking for a hug.. In fact, his fosterer has commented that he sometimes seems more like a tiny human than a typical cat. He loves physical contact. We can all sense that winter is coming: this guy is your cuddle buddy for the season. While you hug him, he’ll give your face little kisses. And he enjoys nibbling on ear lobes for comfort, though if that’s not your thing, he is happy to be gently redirected.

In case you’re worrying that Baleo is a grade-A clinger and you’ll never experience personal space again, fear not! Whilst he loves being with you, he is perfectly independent and good at keeping himself entertained. He enjoys playing on his own and loves a good sunbathe in the window. Pigeon and dog-watching are a favourite hobby of his. He can do “zen.”

When he’d enjoy some playtime with you, Baleo will deposit his favorite toy where you usually sit and wait for you to notice. He won’t beg, he is patient, he knows that you’ll join in when you’re ready.

If you’re looking for a sweet, easy, adaptable boy to be the companion of your dreams, you should consider Baleo. He will greet you whenever you come home with a big, long hug to show how much he missed you, adapt brilliantly to whatever life throws your way and be a steady and happy presence throughout all your adventures together.

If adopting as a pair we recommend: Baleo is the only cat in his foster home. He’d be an easy match with our other cats or kittens so if you’re interested in adopting a pair, let us know and we’ll propose options.

Can Iive with kids? Yes! Baleo has been raised with babies in the home since he was a kitten.

Can live with other animals? Yes. Baleo previously lived with another cat. Untested with dogs but we think he'd be fine.

Ideal home: Living with any kind of family, be that with a single person, couple, or a home with kids. Baleo would be particularly well-suited to having children around, either now or in the future, due to his easy nature. A balcony or terrace is always a plus!

Personalidad: Baleo es una joya. Si la frase «¡pero si solo soy un bebé!» fuera un gato, sería él. El mejor chico, el más adorable, el más dulce: estas son las palabras que una y otra vez aparecen en los mensajes entre nosotrxs, la persona que lo sacó de la calle, y su mamá de acogida. Todxs hemos conocido a muchos gatos, y todxs podemos ver lo especial que es.

Baleo es joven, acaba de cumplir un año. Es uno de esos muchos gatitos que se han criado rodeados de personas desde muy pequeños, que han tenido un hogar donde los querían, pero a los que se les permitía salir libremente al exterior. Por ese motivo, sus constantes aventuras por su antiguo barrio eran fuente de gran preocupación. Fue avisado varias veces por vecinas preocupadas, llegó incluso a pasar por la protectora de Barcelona antes de ser recuperado, y su familia comprende ahora que estará mejor en otro hogar. Estos no suelen ser nuestros casos habituales, ya que trabajamos principalmente con gatos de la calle, pero en la calle también hay gatos como Baleo, y son especialmente vulnerables.

¡Menos sobre el pasado y más sobre el presente! Baleo es un gato lleno de energía y un auténtico amante de las personas. Es increíblemente sociable y cariñoso desde el primer momento en que conoce a alguien, y le encanta que lo cojan en brazos y lo mimen. Creció en un hogar con un bebé y un niño pequeño, por lo que es un gato dulce, paciente y muy tranquilo. Si toca ir al veterinario, se mete él solo en su transportín y allá que vais. Sin estrés: está contigo y os vais juntos de aventura. A Baleo le encanta estar acompañado; la atención y el cariño son su lenguaje del amor. Lleva alegría allá donde va.

¿Lo llamas? ¡Allá viene! Baleo corre a saludar a sus personas y, cuando lo coges en brazos, te rodea el cuello con sus patitas como un niño pequeño pidiendo un abrazo. De hecho, su casa de acogida comenta que a veces parece más un mini-humano que un gato. Le encanta el contacto físico. Todxs notamos que se acerca el invierno: este chico será tu compañero perfecto para las sesiones de sofá y manta. Mientras lo abrazas, te dará pequeños besitos en la cara. Y también le gusta mordisquear suavemente los lóbulos de las orejas para sentirse cómodo, aunque si eso no es lo tuyo, acepta sin problema que lo redirijan con cariño.

Si te preocupa que Baleo sea un pegamento de primera categoría y que nunca más vuelvas a disfrutar de tu espacio personal, ¡no temas! Aunque le encanta estar contigo, también es perfectamente independiente y sabe entretenerse solo. Disfruta jugando por su cuenta y le encanta echar largas siestas al sol junto a la ventana. Observar palomas y perros es uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos. También sabe disfrutar de la vida zen.

Cuando le apetece jugar contigo, Baleo deja su juguete favorito justo donde sueles sentarte y espera pacientemente a que te des cuenta. No insiste ni reclama atención: sabe esperar porque confía en que te unirás al juego cuando estés listx.

Si buscas un compañero dulce, fácil y adaptable, Baleo merece estar en tu lista de candidatos. Te recibirá cada vez que vuelvas a casa con un abrazo largo para demostrarte cuánto te ha echado de menos, se adaptará de maravilla a los cambios que traiga la vida y será una presencia constante, alegre y reconfortante en todas las aventuras que compartáis juntxs.

Si adoptas en pareja te recomendamos: Baleo es el gato único en su casa de acogida. Se lleva muy bien con nuestros otros gatos o peques, así que si te interesa adoptar una pareja, avísanos y te propondremos algunas opciones.

¿Puede vivir con niños? ¡Si! Baleo se ha criado con bebés en casa desde que era un peque.

¿Puede vivir con otros animales? Sí. Baleo vivía antes con otro gato. No se ha probado con perros pero creemos que con la debida presentación no habría ningún problema. 

Hogar ideal: Vivir con cualquier tipo de familia, ya sea un(a) solter@, una pareja o un hogar con niños. Baleo sería especialmente adecuado para convivir con niños, ya sea ahora o en el futuro, gracias a su carácter paciente y dócil. ¡Un balcón o terraza es siempre una ventaja!
