Personality: The word which comes up repeatedly when Cherry is described by his foster mum is “angel.” This cat is a gem: a sweet, sweet boy with a wonderful character. He has heatbreakingly grown up on the periphery of love. He’s seen it up close but never had it. We see that a lot with our cats in the street, but it’s particularly painful when they’ve been close enough to depend on people and seek us out for love, but get nothing back. Food, sometimes yes. Anything more, no. Cherry got sicker and sicker with flu and his eye got worse and worse to the point that it painfully ulcerated and still the people he loved did nothing even though he lived on their patio and they saw him every day. But that ulcer (now healed, though noticeable in some earlier photos) was his path to us, and to giving this beautiful soul a better life.

Cherry is in a foster home with our youngest fosterer, a four year old. She is wonderful with cats and kittens, and seeing Cherry and her together is just the most beautiful thing. Just as she is with him, he is incredible with her: she can do anything to and with him and he will happily go along with it. He lets her put makeup on him, she carries him around like a baby and he lets her put little hats on him. He also cuddles her to sleep every night. When his adult foster mum works from home he will spend the day cuddling her as she works. When the family is out he does fine on his own but he’s there to greet them at the door and is certainly at his happiest around humans. This is the perfect cat for people who love an affectionate bed sharer, with a lot of love to give and receive.

Cherry is talkative and when you speak to him he likes to respond to every word. He has never had someone play with him and to start with, he wasn’t sure what to do but after a few weeks in his foster home he has already become a lot more playful. It’s beautiful to see that side of him emerging. He’s not an extremely playful cat but he has now got into the routine of having some playtime every night before bed and makes sure his foster mums know when it’s time to drop what they’re doing and have some fun together.

In the words of a visiting family member who has just met Cherry: “I really hope that wee cat gets a home as loving as him.” He absolutely will, we’ll make sure of that ❤️ Is Cherry right for you? He’d love to hear from you.

Can Iive with kids? Yes! Cherry is being fostered with a young child and is amazing with her.

Can live with other animals? Yes. Untested with dogs but we think he'd be fine with the right introductions.

Ideal home: Cherry would be great with any kind of family: a single person, couple, or a larger family with kids. He will prefer a home with people around a lot to keep him company.

A balcony or terrace is always a plus!

Personalidad: La palabra que aparece repetidamente cuando Cherry es descrito por su mamá de acogida es "ángel". Este gato es una joya: un chico dulce, cariñoso y con un carácter maravilloso. Ha crecido de forma desgarradora en la periferia del amor. Lo ha visto de cerca pero nunca lo ha tenido. Lo vemos mucho con nuestros gatos de la calle, pero es especialmente doloroso cuando han estado lo suficientemente cerca como para depender de la gente y buscarnos para recibir cariño, pero no obtienen nada a cambio. Comida, a veces sí. Algo más, no. Cherry enfermó cada vez más de gripe y su ojo empeoró hasta el punto de ulcerarse dolorosamente, y aun así la gente a la que quería no hizo nada, a pesar de que vivía en su patio y le veían todos los días. Pero esa úlcera (ahora curada, aunque se nota en algunas fotos anteriores) fue su camino hasta nosotrxs, y para darle una vida mejor a esta preciosa alma.

Cherry está en una casa de acogida con nuestra mamá de acogida más joven, una niña de cuatro añitos. Ella es maravillosa con los gatitos, y ver a Cherry y a ella juntos es lo más bonito. Al igual que ella con él, él es increíble con ella: ella puede hacer cualquier cosa con y para él y él estará encantado de hacerlo. Deja que le maquille, que le lleve en brazos como a un bebé y que le ponga gorritos. También la abraza para dormir todas las noches. Cuando su mamá de acogida adulta trabaja en casa, se pasa el día abrazado a ella mientras trabaja. Cuando la familia está fuera, se las arregla bien solo, pero está ahí para recibirlas en la puerta y, sin duda, es más feliz con los humanos. Es el gato perfecto para las personas a las que les guste compartir la cama con un ser cariñoso, con mucho amor para dar y recibir.

Cherry es hablador y cuando le hablas le gusta responder a cada palabra. Nunca ha tenido a nadie que jugara con él y al principio no sabía muy bien qué hacer, pero después de unas semanas en su casa de acogida ya se ha vuelto mucho más juguetón. Es bonito ver cómo emerge esa faceta suya. No es un gato extremadamente juguetón, pero ya se ha acostumbrado a jugar todas las noches antes de acostarse y se asegura de que sus mamis de acogida sepan cuándo es el momento de dejar lo que están haciendo y divertirse juntos.

En palabras de un familiar que acaba de conocer a Cherry: "Espero de verdad que ese gatito encuentre un hogar tan cariñoso como él". Sí que lo tendrá, nos aseguraremos de ello ❤️ ¿Es Cherry el gato para ti? Le encantaría saber de ti.

Si adoptas en pareja te recomendamos: Cherry es el gato único en su casa de acogida.

¿Puede vivir con niños? Sí! Cherry está en acogida con una niña pequeña en casa y es increíble con ella.

¿Puede vivir con otros animales? Sí. No se ha probado con perros pero creemos que con la debida presentación no habría ningún problema. 

Hogar ideal: Cherry sería genial con cualquier tipo de familia: una persona soltera, una pareja o una familia grande con niños. Preferiría un hogar donde la familia pasa mucho tiempo en casa para darle compañía.
