Gala

Personality: You know that cat you want when you're a kind of an introverted person? The one who is sweet and affectionate and easygoing and a bit playful (but not too much) and looks at you like you're their whole world and you know you're theirs? That's Gala.

This sweet and special girl had quite a history with our team. When she was first trapped and desexed, she was your regular street cat: scared, panicked, not used to people. And then, that changed. Over the following months Gala started getting attached to the person feeding her. She wanted love along with her food. And our teammate who fed her really fell for Gala. She manages a lot of cats and kittens but Gala and her best friend Simbi were her favourites. They're the reason you get up every day in the cold and the wind and when you're exhausted and have other stuff to do and you'd rather do anything else other than go and feed cats in the street every day.

Gala became sociable and we got her out of the street and into a foster home. She is very intelligent. Her current foster mum has fostered with us a lot and says she's the cleverest of the cats she's looked after so far. Cats are intelligent in general but sometimes there is one who is...moreso.

Gala is wary of new situations and new people to start. She will retreat to a safe hiding spot until she's assessed that the situation is safe. It's not out of fear, it's because she is clever enough to want to examine the situation from all angles and decide what she thinks about it. Aside from that initial adaptation time (which isn't long - she was very affectionate within a couple of weeks in her current foster home), she is calm and easy. She sleeps for long periods but takes breaks in between for some pets and playtime. She does really love to play, and seeing her enjoying herself like a kitten after the hard life she's had in the street is so rewarding ❤ She loves chasing around after balls and mice. And her favourite game is attacking any kind of wand toy poking out from under a blanket. Gala is also independent and will play with toy mice and balls by herself. But she has a demanding side and will come and find her foster mum, meow at her until she follows her, and lead her to whatever game she wants to play. She will also meow for strokes. But it's a very sweet and croaky meow, like she's only just learned how to do it 🥺

Gala is not really food motivated. Affection is her love language and she's very affectionate once she trusts you. After a month with her foster family she was jumping up next to her foster parents for strokes, and flops onto her back for belly rubs. She has also just started sleeping on the bed at night and loves to lie in whatever place is most inconvenient for her foster parents: on their legs, or in between their legs so they can't move 😹 Whenever her foster mum has been away for a couple of days (she is cared for by foster dad) she has let it be known just how much she’s missed her. She purrs her head off! She is a girl who will be such a wonderful companion, she is full of love ❤

Loves: giving bleps 😛, playing with interactive wand toys, getting her belly rubbed.

Hates: Being picked up, the first moments when strangers arrive at the door, when her foster parents don't do her bidding fast enough.

Medical note: Gala has chronic gingivitis condition affecting her gums. However, she can eat dry food as well as wet. She needs extra vigilance over time for this, but no daily care and there is no reason it would be expensive over the course of her life. If adopting as a pair we recommend: Gala is in her foster home as an only cat following the adoption of her best friend Simbi. We think she'll do better as the only cat in the home.

Can live with kids? Gala takes time to adapt to new people so we think she'd be better with a single or couple to start, but she is a sweetheart so if kids were to arrive in future we don't see any problem with that.

Can live other animals? Gala is better as the only animal in the home. She is great with other cats but because of the virus which caused her gum condition it's better that she stay as a single when it comes to cats (though risk of another cat ending up with the same condition is low). She would probably be fine with a calm and easygoing dog as well.

Ideal home: As a single cat living with a quiet/introverted person or couple who are looking to form a very loving bond with their cat, and are happy to give her a few weeks to feel safe with them. Gala isn't a complicated cat and settles well and quickly, but she is timid to start.

A balcony or terrace is always a plus!

Personalidad: ¿Sabes ese gato que quieres cuando eres una especie de persona introvertida? ¿El que es dulce y cariñoso y tranquilo y un poco juguetón (pero no demasiado) y te mira como si fueras todo su mundo y sabes que eres el suyo? Esa es Gala.

Esta chica dulce y especial tenía toda una historia con nuestro equipo. Cuando fue capturada y esterilizada, era una gata callejera normal: asustada, aterrorizada, no acostumbrada a la gente. Y entonces, eso cambió. Durante los meses siguientes, Gala comenzó a apegarse a la persona que la alimentaba. Ella quería amor junto con su comida. Y nuestra compañera de equipo que la alimentaba realmente se enamoró de Gala. Maneja muchos gatos y gatitos, pero Gala y su mejor amigo Simbi eran sus favoritos. Son la razón por la que te levantas todos los días con el frío y el viento y cuando estás exhausto y tienes otras cosas que hacer y prefieres hacer otra cosa que ir a dar de comer a los gatos en la calle todos los días.

Gala se volvió sociable y la sacamos de la calle y la metimos en una casa de acogida. Ella es muy inteligente. Su mamá de acogida actual ha acogido mucho con nosotras y dice que es la más inteligente de los gatos que ha cuidado hasta ahora. Los gatos son inteligentes en general pero a veces hay uno que lo es... más.

Gala desconfía de nuevas situaciones y nuevas personas para empezar. Se retirará a un escondite seguro hasta que se determine qué piensa sobre la situación. No es por miedo, es porque ella es lo suficientemente inteligente como para querer examinar la situación desde todos los ángulos y decidir si está a salvo. Aparte de ese tiempo de adaptación inicial (que no es nada largo, fue cariñosa en un par de semanas en su casa de acogida), es tranquila y fácil. Ella duerme durante largos períodos, pero toma descansos para buscar mimos y un tiempo de juego. Le encanta jugar, y verla disfrutarlo como una gatita pequeña después de la dura vida que ha tenido en la calle es muy gratificante ❤ Le encanta correr detrás de pelotas y ratones. Y su juego favorito es atacar cualquier tipo de varita de juguete que sobresalga de debajo de una manta. Gala también es independiente y jugará sola con ratones de juguete y pelotas. Pero ella tiene un lado exigente y vendrá y buscará a su mamá de acogida, maullará hasta que la siga y la guiará a cualquier juego que quiera jugar. Ella también maullará por caricias. Pero es un maullido muy dulce y ronco, como si acabara de aprender a hacerlo 🥺

Gala no está realmente motivada por la comida. El afecto es su lenguaje de amor y es muy cariñosa una vez que confía en ti. Después de un mes con su familia de acogida, empezó. a saltar junta a sus papis de acogida para recibir caricias y se deja caer de espaldas para que le acaricien la barriga. También acaba de empezar a dormir en la cama por la noche y le encanta acostarse en cualquier lugar que sea más inconveniente para sus papis de acogida: sobre sus piernas o entre sus piernas para que no se puedan mover 😹 Cada vez que su mami de acogida ha estado fuera durante un par de días (ella con su papi), ha dejado saber cuánto la ha echado de menos. Ella ronronea y ronronea! Es una chica que será una maravillosa compañera, está llena de amor ❤

Le encanta: dando los blep 😛, jugar con juguetes interactivos contigo y que le froten la barriga.

Odia: que la cojan en brazos, los primeros momentos en que los extraños llegan a la puerta, cuando sus papis de acogida no cumplen sus órdenes lo suficientemente rápido.

Nota médica: Gala tiene una condición de gingivitis crónica que afecta sus encías. Sin embargo, puede comer tanto alimentos secos como húmedos. Necesita vigilancia adicional para esto, pero no atención diaria y no hay razón para que sea costoso en el transcurso de su vida. Si adoptas en pareja te recomendamos: Gala está en su casa de acogida como gata única tras la adopción de su mejor amigo Simbi, y creemos que le irá mejor como gata única en casa.

¿Puede vivir con niños?: Gala necesita un periodo de adaptación con gente nueva, así que creemos que sería mejor con un@ solter@ o una pareja para empezar, pero es un amor de gata, así que si llegaran niños en el futuro, no vemos ningún problema con eso.

¿Puede vivir con otros animales?: Gala es mejor como el único animal en el hogar. Se lleva muy bien con otros gatos, pero debido al virus que causó su problema de las encias, es mejor que se quede sola cuando se trata de gatos (aunque el riesgo de que otro gato termine con la misma afección es bajo). Probablemente también estaría bien con un perr@ tranquil@ y tolerante.

Hogar ideal: Como gata única que vive con una persona tranquila/introvertida o una pareja que busca formar un vínculo muy amoroso con su gata y está feliz de darle unas semanas para sentirse segura con ellos. Gala no es una gata complicada y se adapta bien y rápido, pero es tímida para empezar.

¡Un balcón o terraza siempre es una ventaja!
